Kirk Skog
Project Overview
Kirk Skog is a Calgary-based songwriter, painter, and comedic performer. He needed a website to showcase his music, acting performances, and artwork in one place.
The Challenge
Kirk had a clear artistic vision but didn’t have a dedicated online portfolio. The goal was a mobile-first design. The challenge was to bring his vision to life while improving the responsiveness of his preferred gallery plugin through code modifications to overcome its responsiveness limitations.
Task 1: Web Design and Development
Designed and built a personalized artist portfolio website that reflects Kirk’s creative vision and brings Kirk’s artistic world together online.
Task 2: Feature Integration
Integrated music written, sung, and played by the client, along with the lyrics, into the media player.
An interactive, responsive gallery where visitors can click each painting to view a larger image, description, and creation date.
Selected a gallery suited to the client’s needs.
Set the layout to three images per row on desktop, two on tablets, and one on mobile.
Used custom CSS to remove navigation arrows for a cleaner view.
Created a gallery showcasing Kirk’s acting performances, with each poster image linking directly to a YouTube video.

Delivered a cohesive, mobile-friendly portfolio that brings Kirk’s artistic vision to life and makes his music, performances, and artwork easy to explore in one place.
